Day 5
Was our rest day, and girls were made to expend their extra energies during pool recovery with the sports trainer Geok Mei (GM's and my conspiracy to make the girls tired so that they wont stay up late at night watching tv/surfing net/chatting...). In the afternoon, we went to watch India vs Korea. Real interesting, watching the nimble India team pit against the compact Koreans in style and tactics differences. I think the best thing for me for this trip is having the chance to watch teams like China, Japan, India and Korea play against one another, whose games gurantee would have been interesting.
Dinner was again at our "favourite" shopping complex, and having lost for choice where to eat, the team settled for the Chicken Rice Shop, which sells...chicken rice..
Anyway I can only say..girls between the age of 16-21 are the most difficult to rationalise with sometimes. Sigh...
Day 6
Game vs Korea today. Somehow the energy of the girls seemed different today, and it showed during their game, when almost all the girls kept chasing down opponents and and passes. The half time score was promising, as we wrapped up the first half 1-0 (of course the Korean team was obviously not going all out, since they had already topped the table with their win yesterday against India). But the lack of fitness and focus showed during the second half, and we finished the game 6-0.
Now, we have to see how much India is going to win Chinese Taipei tomorrow for their 4pm match (which we are going to watch) to know who we are going to play on Sat. If it's going to be anything 7 or less, we are going into strokes since Chinese Taipei and us are tied on points, goal difference and goals for. The stroke is going to take place after the last game at tomorrow, which is ending at 9.30pm. And that would mean logistical hell for me since that would mean that I would have think of how to feed 19 players and 4 officals (including myself of course) at the stadium. Not to mention the erractic timings of our arranged transport..which makes planning super challenging.
I think I need a holiday after this trip.
